Privacy
Short version: your airline, your flights and your logbook stay on your device. There’s no account with us, no server of ours, no analytics and no tracking.

What the app keeps, and where
Everything you create in Chief Pilot (airlines, aircraft, missions, flights, notes, the photos you attach to a flight) is stored on your device by the app. We never receive it. If you export a CSV, KML or JSON file, that file goes where you choose to save or share it.
Chief Pilot doesn’t use iCloud today. If that changes, your data would sit in your own iCloud account, and this page will say so first.
What the app talks to
To work, the app connects to a few public services. None of them receives anything from us about you.
- The MSFS planner (planner.flightsimulator.com), inside the app, only when you open it. You sign in there with your own account: your password goes to the sign-in page of Microsoft, Xbox or PlayStation, never to us. Chief Pilot then reads the flight plans you’ve saved, and never creates, changes or deletes one. The session stays in the app’s web view on your device.
- SimBrief, to download the public catalogue of aircraft types. No account and no personal data are involved.
- aviationweather.gov, for the METAR of the airports on your missions. The request carries airport codes, nothing else.
- Apple Maps, for the maps. Apple’s privacy policy applies to map requests.
Each service also sees your device’s IP address, as any connection on the internet does.
What we don’t do
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of data.
Deleting your data
Delete the app and its data goes with it. Backups you exported are files of yours; delete them as you would any file.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It’s hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps technical logs, IP addresses included, under GitHub’s own privacy statement. The links that write to us open your email app; if you send the message, we receive your address and use it only to reply or to tell you when Chief Pilot is out, as you asked.
Questions
Write to chiefpilot@bulbmode.com. Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you (in practice, only the emails you sent us), and ask us to delete it.
